Early Saturday morning the Miami Marlins shipped off power-hitting right fielder Giancarlo Stanton to the New York Yankees.

The Trade:

Marlins receive Starling Castro, along with two low-level prospects Jorge Guzman and Jose Devers for Giancarlo Stanton.

The Miami Marlins return seems light on the surface. However, this trade was never meant to restock the fighting fishes farm system. This trade accomplished what it needed to, as the Yankees will eat 265-million dollars of the 295-million owed to Stanton.

Since the new ownership group, headed by Derek Jeter, arrived in Miami their entire mindset has been to cut cost. That starts with Stanton.

With visions of Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton being littered the same outfield for 162-games a season, at least until 2023 should be exciting to baseball fans; Many fans are extremely mad at this move.

Let’s deep dive into 3 main reasons people are outraged about this move, and see if I can change your mind.

1. Collusion!

Any baseball fan is aware of the legacy Derek Jeter left behind in New York. Afterall, we spent 162-games giving him cheesy send offs upon the conclusion of his two-decade-long career. After giving the Yankees 5-world-series-championships, Jeter does it again delivering the reigning NL MVP to the Yanks. This is a funny joke to make. Get them all out now. “Jeter is secretly working with the Yankees.” Yeah, sure…That is why Jeter traded Stanton to two other teams–the Giants and Cardinals–Only to have Stanton reject those trades. After those two teams, there are only so many options that can handle his contract.

2. Why would the Marlins make this trade?!

Money. You can not ask the Yankees–or any team–to not only pay for Stanton but also give up extremely valuable assets. This trade is a rare trade were no organization lost. The Marlins get out from underneath a terrible contract that would have and has plagued them, that was given out by a different ownership group. The Yankees got one of the best players in baseball to add to an already great young team.

3.What Stanton did is not different than Kevin Durant!

Believe it or not, there are some people with this clown take. Including Fox Sports’ Jason Mcintyre. Do I even need to explain why this is a stupid take? Kevin Durant went to the greatest team in basketball history–Stanton did not. He left a team that was a win away from going to the championship–Stanton did not. Sure, he used his no-trade clause to go where he wanted and was comfortable with, but so does literally every other player. That is why there is such a thing.

So baseball fans I ask you, although it will be hard, just enjoy it. This is going to be a fun team to watch and despite playing in pinstripes they have a lot of “likable” players. With every AL east park being hitter parks, it will be home runs galore. 11-of-the-12 hardest hit baseballs from a year ago came off the bat of either Giancarlo Stanton or Aaron Judge. On the east coast, you have the Yankees with Stanton and Judge, while on the West coast you have Trout and Ohtani. This is going to be a fun MLB season, and it is not even the winter meetings yet.
